SideBar Lite
Paper Software, Inc.
$30-$40
#20006/4141
is a replacement for Program Manager and File Manager. The main display, a
customizable vertical bar on the side of the screen, has a small DOS command
line over a directory listing. Unlike the regular DOS prompt, when you enter
the name of a program at the SBLITE "DOS prompt", it will be executed whether
it is a DOS app or a Windows app.
It automatically copies the Program Manager Group structure into its on menu
system, so you can remove the Program Manager completely. This presents you
with a way of reducing the load on system resources substantially (even to
zero, if necessary). When apps are minimized/iconized, their icons appear
neatly arranged in the icon bar instead of scattered randomly across the
bottom of the screen. This is an excellent utility, with lots of customizable
options.

#20006/3871
is a complete graphical replacement for Windows' Program Manager. It allows you

which stores the last twelve commands. Other features include individual folder
password protection, customizable command lines, multi-select capabilities, a
conversion utility to convert ProgMan groups to SloopMan folders, keyboard
item selection, a trashcan utility, a pop-up run dialog, and much more.
Windows' Program Manager has a couple of nagging deficiencies that Sloop
Manager makes up for very nicely. Icon selection with Program Manager can be
frustrating, but Sloop Manager provides a browsing feature that lets you page
back and forth and view a large number of icons at once. Then you just click
on the picture of an icon that you want to install.
Program Manager only lets you minimize groups within it's own window, but Sloop
Manager let you minimize folders to the Desktop. This is a great feature that
not only helps clean up your desktop, but makes often-used folders instantly
available. This is an excellent, very well thought-out utility. Real mode is
not supported.
